SAN ANTONIO -- Animal Defense League officials are asking for the public's help with information that can help locate the person they said intentionally doused a cat with battery acid.Barnabus was found a week ago by Susan Knight, who said she was trying to trap feral cats for spaying and neutering when the cat approached her."When I was calling, 'Kitty, kitty,' it thought I was calling him," she said.
A vet noticed the burns after Knight took the cat for a check-up. Unfortunately, it's only the latest in a string of recent acts of violence against animals, said Ron Aaron, executive director of the Animal Defense League."We see all the time dogs and cats who are clearly brutalized who still like us," he said. "It's hard to explain."Aaron said the ADL has seen other similar scaldings of animals in different parts of the city. The ADL is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of anybody responsible for Barnabus' burns or for a series of cat killings over the past year. Anybody with information is asked to call 210-655-1481, ext. 111.
