Big Give SA tries again

Technical issues shut down fundraising effort Tuesday

SAN ANTONIO – After computer issues shutdown the fundraising effort Tuesday, Big Give SA planners tried again Wednesday.

Volunteers spent the day tracking donations at the San Antonio Area Foundation. At 10 a.m, donations reached the $2 million mark.

The website was working all day and Big Give SA planning member John Burnam said the website is refreshing every 30 minutes in an effort to keep bandwidth as low as
possible so that technical issues won't hamper efforts again.

"Obviously we had a catastrophic event yesterday. And just by the fact that the community is rallying back together, we've raised almost a million more dollars since we ran into the trouble," Burnam said. "That's huge and a major thing to celebrate. We're really, really excited about that."

Burnam said that donations made Tuesday are safe and will be directed to individual charities.

The grand totals are expected to be announced next week.

The fundraising effort wraps up Wednesday at 8 p.m.
