San Antonio Zoo celebrates ‘Locals Day' with half-price admission

Zoo offers special one-time $7 admission on Tuesday

SAN ANTONIO – Calling all locals! San Antonio Zoo is offering a special one-time admission price of just $7 on Tuesday.

The zoo said the organization is celebrating Locals Day as a way to show their gratitude to the residents of San Antonio, Bexar County and the surrounding areas.

“Last year San Antonio Zoo donated $150,000 worth of tickets and experiences to other nonprofit organizations,” said Tim Morrow, CEO and executive director of the zoo.

“This is another way we aim to be good community partners and open our gates to even more of our neighbors," Morrow said.

The 103-year-old zoo is well-known for connecting with the community and, in the past, has offered free or discounted admission to members of the military and teachers.

By offering the nearly 50 percent savings, the zoo said it hopes to widen its accessibility and show its desire to connect the community with nature and conservation.

The zoo said the discounted admission tickets must be purchased at the front gate and are only valid on Tuesday, from noon until 6 p.m.
