DWTS Season 14: The fourth elimination

Dance duel claims first couple of the season

SAN ANTONIO - Anyone else excited about the dance duel? I can’t wait to see who the judges save! If you want to know what happened, scroll down to the bottom of the post. Otherwise, take a ride with me as I watch the elimination show.

Here’s where the couples stand:

  • William & Cheryl – 29 points
  • Katherine & Mark – 29 points
  • Maria & Derek – 27 points
  • Donald & Peta – 27 points
  • Roshon & Chelsie – 26 points
  • Jaleel & Kym – 24 points
  • Gladys & Tristan – 22 points
  • Melissa & Maks – 21 points
  • Gavin & Karina – 19 points

The judges wanted an encore of the salsa performed by Maria & Derek. After the performance, it looked like Maria was a little worried about keeping her top on. I hit rewind. Yep. Her top was rising up and her chest was slipping out from under it.

The first three couples take the stage to learn their fates. Maria & Derek, Melissa & Maks (Melissa’s response was caught by the censors) and Gladys & Tristan are all safe.

DANCE DUEL EXPLAINED: The bottom two couples will perform the same dance at the same time and the judges will choose one couple to stay. The judges named stars who were sent home too early as their reason for stepping in this season.

Train performed their new song “Drive By.”

Choreographer Liz Imperio was the mastermind behind the Latin dance with an assist from Sheila E. on the drums.

Selena Gomez performed “Hit The Lights.”

The next three couples learn their fates. William & Cheryl, Katherine & Mark and Donald & Peta are all safe.

Next up: a taped piece on a web challenge. The pros are doing a ballroom battle you can watch online. You’ll get to see the finale on the show.

The final three couples take the stage. Roshon & Chelsie are safe. Gavin & Karina and Jaleel & Kym are headed for the dance duel.

The couples performed a cha cha cha. The couples only get half the dance floor. The ladies have so much fringe, that’s all I see at first until I realize Gavin & Karina are not in a good position for TV – I can see Jaleel & Kym in their shot! This only makes Jaleel & Kym look better.

Carrie Ann said both couples gave it their best shot. She said Jaleel had a strong cha cha flavor. She thought Gavin was good in hold. Len said Gavin always gives it 100%. He said Jaleel has great movement and rhythm. Bruno said Gavin had improved. He said Jaleel had amazing shapes.

The couple the judges decided to save: Jaleel & Kym. It’s unanimous!

Next week’s theme is Motown. It’s all on Gladys to shine or face the dance duel!
