DWTS Season 14: The sixth elimination

"Classical Night" claims one couple

SAN ANTONIO - We’re down to seven couples and soon there will be just six left to dance next week. This is the final dance duel of the season. As if the show has finally figured out to get right down to giving some results, the hosts went to the leader board:

  • Maria & Derek – 57 points
  • Katherine & Mark – 54 points
  • Donald & Peta – 53 points
  • William & Cheryl – 53 points
  • Roshon & Chelsie – 52 points
  • Jaleel & Kym – 51 points
  • Melissa & Maks – 47 points

The judges had Maria & Derek to perform their paso doble again.

The three couples tied in the first round at 27 points are the first to learn their fates. William & Cheryl, Donald & Peta and Katherine & Mark are all safe!

Time for a tearjerker. Steelo Vazquez had a ruptured brain aneurysm and couldn’t talk or walk – let alone dance. He performed for the first time in public with his group The Groovaloos. It’s hard to believe that just a few months ago he could barely walk. Incredible! Thank you, ABC, for finding these inspiring stories!

Gavin DeGraw returned to the show – not to dance, but to sing. He performed “Sweeter.”

It’s time for the Ballroom Battle! Six professional dancers found an amateur couple to represent them in a dance-off. This has been an online competition until now. This seems like it would be a good summer show. Not sure why ABC put it online. Cheryl, Tony and Louis trained these three couples for a jive relay. Cheryl’s couple went first. They were good. Tony’s team was second. They were better. Louis’s team was last. They had the best lifts! The judges liked all of the couples. Tom was pushing the judges to make a decision. I believe Len was bleeped. The judges chose Cheryl’s team.

The remaining four couples take the stage to determine who will compete in the dance duel. Maria & Derek and Melissa & Maks are safe. Roshon & Chelsie and Jaleel & Kym are in the dance duel.

The last two couples are doing a rumba. It’s hard to watch two couples on the split screen, but it looks like Roshon is doing more work than Jaleel. Roshon moved around more. Jaleel did a lot of spinning Kym around.

Carrie Ann said they’re equal, but Jaleel’s chemistry with Kym was lost. She said Roshon & Chelsie had good chemistry. Len said the duel is cruel because they have to decide and these two couples gave it their all. He said it breaks his heart that one couple has to go. Bruno said Roshon was stronger and his connection was spot on. He said Jaleel had better arms. Carrie Ann saved Roshon & Chelsie. Len saved Roshon & Chelsie. Bruno also wanted to save Roshon & Chelsie.

Next week, the six couples really have to give it their all. Two of the couples will be sent home next week!
