Dina Lopez's Blog: HEB Slimdown Showdown - Healthy lifestyle, hidden fears

Donating her old clothes: 'I was scared that I would fail.'

SAN ANTONIO - My family and I have embraced our new lifestyle with great enthusiasm.

As time passed, my children found it more difficult to continue with this new lifestyle. There were times when they did not feel like eating healthy and wanted, for example, some pizza. We compromised on it, and learned how to make healthy pizza at home.

This new lifestyle has not been easy. I am very fortunate to have a supporting family who will help keep me on track, just like I keep them on track.

I recently cleaned out my closet, and donated all my clothing that was too big for me. When my husband approached me with this, I felt like I was not ready. Most of the clothing in my closet was too big for me, but I did not feel I could part with it. I think part of me felt like I would fail, and needed this clothing for the 'just in case.'

My husband asked me why I was not ready and I was honest with him, letting him know I was scared that I would fail. I have come to understand that I will struggle everyday, but I just need to take it one day at a time, and I need to ask for help when I'm struggling.
