Seguin Man Wins $1M On Scratch-Off

Million-Dollar Ticket Bought Friday

SEGUIN, Texas - It's a case of persistence paying off.

"He's been playing here for quite some time. I've been at this store for a little over a year and ever since then, he's been playing," said Vincent Reyes, who works at the Pic N' Pac store in Seguin, where a winning scratch-off was bought.

Last Friday, Reyes convinced his loyal customer to try a new $10 lottery scratch-off ticket called the Texas Lottery Black.

"He played four before he actually hit," said Reyes.

With one scrape of the coin, the anonymous Seguin man became $1 million richer.

"He walked outside, and kind of jumped up for a minute. He seemed really excited, and went and told his uncle that he just won. Then he came back in and said he'd be back sometime and took off," said Reyes.

The chances of winning a million dollars, according to the scratch-off, are one in a million.

"I just thought, 'Why couldn't that have been me?'" said Donna Loftin, who was shopping at the store and heard the news over the weekend.

The winning customer, according to Reyes, was hard-working and needed the money.

"He told his uncle he planned to pay off his house and his parent's house, and I believe their cars as well," said Reyes.

As for the new-found millionaire returning to try his luck again, "Oh no, haven't seen him since," said Reyes.
