SA residents recount their worst Christmas gifts
Some people remember well the worst holiday gift they have received
SAN ANTONIO - Lots of holiday gifts are bagged up every year and most are thoughtful and appreciated.
Like this reason to buy Diet Coke.
"We needed to get this for the Mentos geyser we got for christmas," one San Antonio shopper said.
But some are mind-bogglingly bad.
So KSAT posed the question: What was the worst Christmas gift you ever received?
"Underwear," one girl replied.
Target's assistant store manager at Loop 1604 at Blanco Road, Dwain Lewis, had a quick reply.
"Old man slippers, I guess," Lewis said. "They're the big, fluffy slippers."
Most people shopping could name that bad gift right away.
"Probably a sweater," said another shopper.
The father of five kids answered: "When I was a kid, my grandmother would send us Avon, men's Avon stuff."
Mike Henry had a bad childhood memory.
"Bad toy water rocket," Henry said.
A boy said, "a puzzle that I already had."
Another woman used to decorate with a certain mammal but got tired of them one year.
"Rabbits," she said.
A teenager was embarrassed by his gift one Christmas.
"One year, at a Secret Santa, someone tricked me into getting a girl's hat."
Then there was the disgusting gift Tom Dunatov got.
"I think I once got a carob bar which, when we opened it, had some bugs crawling along the side of it," Dunatov said.
But the winner came from a woman visiting from Kentucky:
"A drunken horse," she said. "It's plastic, he's laying on his back and it holds a bottle of wine."
She said she has plans for it.
"I'm going to regift it to some friends that are coming in January," the woman said
