Bexar County commissioner joins fight to save Pecan Valley Golf Course

Pecan Valley Golf Course closed 2 weeks ago

SAN ANTONIO - Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Adkission is weighing in on the effort to save a popular Southeast side golf course.

The Pecan Valley Golf Course closed in January; the owner says it was due to the poor economic climate.

Adkisson has joined San Antonio City Councilwoman Leticia Ozuna and other community leaders to discuss the future of Pecan Valley.

"We're looking for any takers that will do justice to Pecan Valley Golf Course to step forward and discuss this with the owners as well as the community. The community is a part of this process," Adkisson said.

When the closure was first announced, there was speculation that the property was going to be sold and could possibly be used as multi-family housing. But Dan Pedrotti, the president of Foresight Golf, the company that owns Pecan Valley, says the ownership is still intact.

Pedrotti says the future plans for the golf course will be unveiled in about a month. Pedrotti says the plans include a grand remodeling of the course.
