Victim's mother takes stand in murder trial

Jon Thomas Ford charged in wife's death

SAN ANTONIO - The victim's mother took the stand again Wednesday in the Jon Thomas Ford murder trial.

It was the second straight day of testimony from Deborah Edwards, mother of Dana Clair Edwards, who Ford is accused of murdering.

While Tuesday's direct examination had a friendlier tone, Wednesday's cross examination was more hostile.

Defense attorney Dick DeGuerin accused Edwards of harassing his client, showing dozens of letters and flyers sent to Ford. Many of the letters accused Ford of killing Edwards' daughter.

Several times the prosecution objected to items being admitted as evidence, but Judge Maria Teresa Herr denied most of the objections.

Edwards was still on the stand shortly before 5 p.m., and could be back on the stand Thursday.

Police arrested Ford on murder charges in 2010, more than a year after Edwards’ death.
