Christine Caldera, 38, charged with attempted murder
SCHERTZ, Texas - Police in Schertz have arrested a woman who they said tried to cut her 13-year-old daughter's throat with a knife.
According to a police report, 38-year-old Christine Caldera was found by police outside a home in the 1000 block of Gettysburg Drive in Schertz.
Police said Caldera was screaming and that during their investigation, they discovered that Caldera had cut her daughter's throat with a knife.
"The mother of the daughter was yelling 'Desiree come home, Desiree come home,'" neighbor Stacey Knodel said.
Neighbor Sharon Garrett said was awoken with a jolt at around 4 a.m. Monday.
She said she saw the young girl standing on her door step, screaming but before was gone before she could answer the door. All she left behind were blood stains.
"I hear this banging on my door, and it's someone screaming 'Let me in,'" Garrett said.
The daughter was taken to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Caldera was arrested on a charge of attempted murder and was taken to the Guadalupe County Jail.
