Student forced to shave 'Bonner Cut' scores courtside tix
Matt Bonner arranges courtside seats for Patrick Gonzalez
SAN ANTONIO - A 12-year-old Spurs superfan who was forced to shave his hair, which was cut in the likeness of Spurs forward Matt Bonner, scored courtside seats for Thursday's playoff game against the Clippers.
Woodlake Hills Middle School student Patrick Gonzalez was forced to shave off the Bonner cut because school officials said it was a distraction to other students. Patrick reluctantly shaved it off and returned to class.
The story made national headlines and Bonner arranged tickets for Gonzalez and his family to attend Thursday's game at the AT&T Center. Bonner also autographed several items of Spurs memorabilia for him.
Patrick says Bonner is one of his favorite players because their hair is similar and he plans to get the same haircut again this summer.
Bonner responded to the situation by saying he respects the school's decision and his mother is a teacher, but added maybe they could have just moved Patrick to the back of the classroom.
