Spurs fans dejected, remain optimistic

Die-hard fans see team bouncing back in Game 6

SAN ANTONIO - A gut-wrenching loss by the Spurs in Game 5 against the Thunder has some fans doubting their team, but die-hards still believe the Spurs can pull even and force Game 7 in San Antonio.

“When I went to bed last night, I said, 'Wow, they’re the better team. We’re second-best.' I woke up this morning, I said, 'No, they have to beat us one more time,'” said Todd Hedgpeth, who watched the game on TV.

But even hard-core fans admit the loss was tough to watch.

“Us true, devoted fans, it’s hard for us to see how well we play sometimes and then how bad we play,” said Anthony Sandoval, who took his son to Game 6 as his graduation present.

The Spurs will head to Oklahoma for Game 6 on Wednesday night.
