South Side crime spree brought to end
SAPD: Stephanie Casias, 24, six others arrested in thefts
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio police say they have brought a South Side crime spree to an end.
Police named 24-year-old Stephanie Casias as the ring leader of what they said was a group of car burglars who've likely broken into dozens of vehicles.
"They were behind a whole lot more and I think they've been doing it for a period of time as well. That amount of property probably wasn't stolen overnight," said San Antonio police Sgt. James Conn.
Police believe Casias, three juveniles, including her younger brother and 17-year-old Alejandro Silva, were all involved in the break-ins.
Dodic Street was hit particularly hard this week, police said.
One victim said the suspects tried to break into his truck early Thursday morning and then came back and tried to break into it again.
That's when police caught up with them.
While Silva was quiet as police took him to jail Thursday, an indignant Casias was not, snapping at reporters as she was put in handcuffs.
Each were charged with seven counts each of burglary of a vehicle.
