Remains of burned body identified
Family of Jackie Johnson asking for help in solving murder
SAN ANTONIO - The family of a murder victim has come forward, asking for help in finding answers in the mysterious murder of their loved one.
The body of Jackie Johnson, 25, was found June 2 in the 100 block of Shrader Road, burned beyond recognition.
Johnson’s family said authorities confirmed the discovery on Tuesday while they were on their way to provide a DNA sample for testing.
"She didn't deserve to die like this,” said Ginger Ferguson, Johnson’s sister. “I went out there, and they burned her like she was a dog. They don't even do dogs like that."
Outraged and shocked by her death, Johnson’s family says they are on a desperate search for answers, asking anyone with information, to come forward.
"Whoever did this will get caught, they will be punished by the law,” said Erica Ferguson, Johnson’s niece. “They just took someone who was important to us, and she was very beautiful. They will get caught."
Johnson’s family said they are now left deciding how to go about funeral services for Johnson, since her body was burned so badly.
They'll be holding a benefit on Thursday at Midtown Cocktails on 2014 E. Houston Street to help raise money for those services.
