Couple arrested in Chris Madrid's, Chevron break-ins
SAPD lieutenant noticed suspects leaving Chris Madrid's, chased after them
SAN ANTONIO - A couple was arrested early Tuesday morning for two break-ins.
Around 1:30 a.m., police say 35-year-old Edward Sanchez and 27-year-old Samantha Sanchez broke into Chris Madrid's at 1900 Blanco Road.
Police said they used a rock to smash the front glass door, sounding the burglary alarm. The suspects are accused of stealing four bottles of liquor, which could be seen shattered on the ground after their arrest.
Around the same time as the Chris Madrid's burglary, an alarm went off just blocks away at a Chevron gas station at 909 West Hildebrand.
Investigators say the same couple was caught on surveillance cameras trying to break into the convenience store, but they could not penetrate the safety glass.
An SAPD Central Patrol Lieutenant was in the area responding to the alarms when he saw the couple leaving Chris Madrid's. The lieutenant was chasing after Edward Sanchez when Samantha Sanchez began chasing the officer. She was caught by a second officer.
Both suspects were arrested. Edward and Samantha Sanchez face charges of burglary, attempted burglary and evading arrest.
