Family speaks about DWI crash victims
Last crash survivor taken off life-support
SAN ANTONIO - The family of the five people killed in Monday's DWI-related crash spoke about their pain Thursday evening, and thanked the community for their support.
Roxanna Demers and her four boys have all died as a result of the crash, an accident police say her husband, Larry Demers, is responsible for. Demers is accused of driving drunk while coming home from a party.
Rose Rodriguez, a cousin of Roxanna Demers, who was killed in the crash, said Thursday was particularly hard. The last remaining survivor of the crash, Abram Demers, was taken off life support.
"She still expected the boy to live," said Rodriguez, of the 8-year-old's maternal grandmother. "I guess she wanted something to stay behind from her daughter."
On Saturday, the family will hold a barbecue fundraiser at Jolly Rogers tattoo shop. A local HEB is providing the supplies for the event. The fundraiser will be held from 12 p.m.-6 p.m. at 383 Valley Hi.
