Boy, 6, adjusts after kidnapping

Boy reunited with grandmother Friday

SAN ANTONIO - Simon Weyman, 6, and his grandmother, Mary Gilson, were reunited on Friday night after he was seen at an apartment complex pool in San Antonio.

Gilson said Saturday that although her grandson is now safe, she says it's been a rough couple of days.

"I don't think I have recovered from the pain in my heart that I felt when I realized he was gone and that I might not see him again," she said.

Gilson said since they brought Simon home, he has been very quiet, but on Saturday he was starting to talk more and he even asked for his mother.

"He doesn't realize the seriousness," said Gilson. "He doesn't know that it was a crime. He just thinks that it was a normal thing to do."

Simon's mother, Melissa Weyman, 43, was identified by police as one of the suspects in the kidnapping.

"I felt some empathy," she said. "But the sympathy stopped when those three people broke into my house and she was behind it."

Mary said three men broke into the front of her home and pushed her on the ground. She said another man and a woman, believed to be Simon's mother, came in the back and took Simon.

She said they ransacked her place, taking documents, jewelry, and other valuables.

"That was completely unnecessary to handle this matter in that way," said Gilson. "It was dangerous to me and it could have been dangerous to Simon."

Mary said that Simon's mother and one other person were arrested on Friday night.

However, she says that investigators are still looking for the three other men involved in the kidnapping.
