Hazmat crews respond to chlorine leak

Crews contain leak at sewage plant on Valley Road

SAN ANTONIO - Hazmat crews responded to a chlorine leak at a South Side sewage treatment plant Monday evening.

According to SAWS, crews were changing out a chlorine canister earlier in the day when a stem broke off the container located along Valley Road.

Several Hazmat units worked to contain the leak to a scrubber room and there was no danger to the public, officials said. No one was injured and all employees were given proper safety gear.
