Motorcyclist pleads guilty to intoxication manslaughter
Staci Stevens killed in 2008
SAN ANTONIO - Just over four years ago, James Trimble crashed his motorcycle into a car that had slowed to make a turn from Interstate 10 to Loop 1604.
His passenger Staci Stevens (pictured above), 23, was killed instantly.
Trimble suffered severe head injuries but survived.
He was not wearing a helmet. Prosecutors say Trimble (pictured below) had apparently given his helmet to Stevens.
Trimble pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter charges earlier this month.
On Tuesday, the jury began hearing evidence in the punishment phase of his trial.
According to prosecutors, both Trimble and Stevens’ blood alcohol levels were well over the legal limit.
Little is known about the events that preceded the wreck except that the couple had left a bar together.
A medical expert testified that Trimble has no memory of the night due to the extensive nature of his brain injuries.
Trimble is facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
