SAN ANTONIO - The children of a woman killed this week after crashing her car in a utility pole are now trying to move forward.
Lorraine Tamez, 42, died Tuesday night just hours after she crashed into the pole.
"She wasn't just my mother, she was my best friend," said Richard Tamez, Lorraine's son. "She was my guidance, my counselor. She was everything to me."
The Bexar County Sheriff's Officer reported Wednesday that she was speeding on Braun Road when the accident happened.
"We were looking for her all night," said Crystal Tamez, Lorraine's daughter. "It's not like her to not check up on us and tell us where she's at."
Crystal Tamez is Lorraine's oldest daughter and at 23-years-old, she plans on getting custody of her two younger sisters, Priscilla, 17, and Lilliana, 12.
Richard Tamez, 21, said he also plans to help his sister Crystal.
"If we stick together, we can fill the shoes for our mom," said Richard. "And, raise these kids and finish school and do what my mom would have done when she was here."
"My mom was everything." said Crystal. "I'm pretty much going to have to take her place and step up and do what she did for us."
Crystal said they are not only trying to figure out how they will afford to bury their mother, but also how they will live without her.
"I was really looking forward to my mom being there going, to the football games," said Priscilla Tamez. "Just being proud of me for how hard we worked."
"She was just so loving," said Lilliana Tamez. "We were her whole life. She lived for us everyday."
The staff at Good Time Charlie's, where Lorraine used to work, will be taking donations for the family at the restaurant.
Friends of the family will be holding a barbecue plate fundraiser on Saturday at 1043 Rayburn street, just behind Southwest Military.
A rosary for Lorraine has been scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. the Castle Ridge Mortuary and her funeral will be held on July 4th at 10 a.m. at the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church.
