Man found dead in NE Side home

Police call victim's death on Wilborn 'suspicious'

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio police are investigating the suspicious death of a man on the city's Northeast side as a homicide.

A friend and a neighbor discovered 67-year-old Roland Castillo dead in his home around midnight in the 2700 block of Wilborn, near Broadway and Nacogdoches, police said.

Richard Blocker, who has known Castillo for years, said he knocked on Castillo’s door and after no answer, noticed the door was unlocked. Blocker said he heard the sound of running water, and walked straight to the bathroom, where he found Castillo laying dead in his bathtub with the water running.

Blocker said there was a lot of blood and it appears there may have been some kind of a struggle in the home.

Blocker said Castillo was a military veteran, who most recently worked as a surgical nurse.

“He was a really nice guy who would do anything for you if he could,” said Blocker. “We liked him a lot, and we’re going to miss him.

Police so far have no suspects or motive in Castillo’s death. Detectives ask anyone with information about the crime to call the San Antonio Police Department.
