Banned! Governor extends Bexar Co. fireworks restriction

Aerial fireworks now illegal for 4th

SAN ANTONIO - Governor Rick Perry has granted a Bexar Co. request to extend the ban on use of aerial fireworks.

That means no bottle rockets, roman candles or any type of fireworks that fly.

County Judge Nelson Wolff first banned aerial fireworks earlier this week because of dry conditions.

But that ban could only be in effect for 60 hours and would end well before the July 4th holiday.

So he asked the governor to extend that ban.

The governor's order will now extend through July 5.

The county information office says all types of fireworks that do not fly are still okay, and all professional fireworks shows and displays are still in effect.
