Drunk, speeding driver leads police on westside chase

Police say driver now facing DWI, other charges

SAN ANTONIO - A driver decided to make a run for it when police tried to stop him. Now he faces DWI, evading arrest and other traffic charges.

Investigators said that driver led police on a winding 20 minute chase just before midnight Friday after an officer tried to pull him over for speeding in the 1200 block of S. Gen. McMullen.

The driver went through a series of westside streets trying to lose police, but officers called in the department's helicopter to help them track the suspect.

Police said the driver bailed out of this car and ran through a creek, but the chopper crew and officers on the ground were able to track him to a house on San Horacio.

Police found the man hiding there.

Police said they'll charge that driver with DWI, evading arrest, and a bunch of traffic charges for speeding and running stop signs in his getaway effort.
