Consumer Reports picks summer wines
Testers recommend inexpensive riesling, pinot grigio
Summer is the time wine drinkers prefer a lighter, crisper variety. So, Consumer Reports tested dozens of pinot grigio and riesling wines.
Pinot grigio is good with light pasta or grilled fish.
Rieslings can vary a lot. Drier rieslings go well with most anything while sweeter rieslings can be good dessert wines.
Testers found some good, inexpensive wines to recommend.
For a riesling, they liked the 2010 Hogue Late Harvest at $10 a bottle.
For a pinot grigio, the 2010 Black Swan Vineyards topped the ratings and it costs $8 a bottle.
