Burglary ring busted in Atascosa County

Deputies: Tip from pawn shop led to multiple arrests

JOURDANTON, Texas - A routine pawn shop search lead deputies to an active burglary ring in Atascosa County.

A tip from a pawn shop lead deputies to recover stolen property they were able to track to a particular suspect.

Miguel Arguijo, 25; Juan Salazar, 21; Erik Reyes, 18; and Michael Smith, 17, were all charged with burglary and remain in police custody.

Samuel Salazar, 19, was also charged, but remains at large. Deputies have offered $1,000 for information leading to his arrest.

The ring targeted homes on quiet roads in Atascosa county for nearly two months before being caught.

They stole thousands of dollars worth of items, including televisions, knife sets, and laptops.

The original tip from the pawn shop led deputies to Arguijo, who subsequently led investigators to the other suspects.

In total, 25 burglaries have now been solved.

"It's all about getting a break," said Deputy David Soward. "Somebody sees something suspicious, somebody writes down a license plate, or we find stolen property."
