SAN ANTONIO - One of the most popular musicals ever performed on stage is coming to the San Pedro Playhouse.
"Hello Dolly" has been made famous by Carol Channing and Barbara Streisand.
Now you will be able to see local talent put on a show.
That includes Katy Moore, who plays Dolly.
"I am having the time of my life. At the same time, I am scared to death," said Moore, who is playing one of the biggest roles of her acting career.
Moore is a pediatric operating nurse at Methodist Children’s Hospital during the day and an actress at night.
"I am able to pursue my passion and I love it," Moore said.
"Hello Dolly" is about a widow who has turned into a match maker and ends up in love.
"She is a complicated person and there's lots to think about," Moore said.
When Moore auditioned for the musical, she wasn’t looking at the role of Dolly, but was offered the lead.
"When someone asks you if you want to play Dolly, you just say, 'Yes, absolutely,'” said Moore. "It’s a big show. It’s a big role."
A role she is ready to fill.
The show opens Friday and runs through August 19.
