Second suspect arrested in alleged prostitution ring

Nathan Alderete, 22, Justin May, 24, accused of promotion prostitution

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio police have arrested a second suspect in connection with an alleged sex trafficking operation.

Nathan Alderete, 22, was taken into custody Monday on charges of trafficking of persons and aggravated promotion of prostitution.

Detectives with the San Antonio Police Department were working with the FBI on a nationwide undercover operation when they discovered the ring, an arrest affidavit stated.

They said a 20-year-old and 23-year-old woman told them they began selling their bodies to men in San Antonio, Austin and Corpus Christi after answering an ad on an internet website for escorts.

The women told police the ad said they could earn $1,000 per night, but they never received any money, the affidavit stated.

Instead, they said, they handed over the money to Alderete and another man, who then promised the women they would be paid once they had met a financial quota, the affidavit stated. Police arrested the other man, 24-year-old Justin May, in June.
