Police arrest second UTSA football player in robbery
Toyin Dada, Adefemi Adekeye kicked off team
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio police have arrested a second University of Texas at San Antonio football player in connection with an armed robbery last month.
Toyin Dada, 21, was booked into the Bexar County jail late Thursday night. His teammate, Adefemi Adekeye, 21, was arrested several hours earlier. Both men were charged with aggravated robbery.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that a 20-year-old man told police he went to an apartment near the UTSA main campus hoping to buy $300 worth of marijuana.
The man claimed that once he showed his money, two men inside the apartment pointed guns at him and took his cash, cell phone and wallet, the affidavit stated.
The victim told police he tried to hit one of them men with his fist, but one of the men hit him first. The victim said he ran out of the apartment in fear for his life, the affidavit stated.
Police showed a photo lineup to the victim and a witness, who were able to identify both suspects.
A UTSA football roster shows Adekeye was a safety for the team while Dada played cornerback. Both of them have reportedly been kicked off the team.
