Suspected robber dies in fiery crash

Suspect identified as 48-year-old Barton Touchstone

SAN ANTONIO - A man suspected of stealing a cell phone after a traffic incident died in a fiery crash in Northwest Bexar County.

The accident was reported around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday along Interstate 10 near Ralph Fair Road in front of the Scenic Oaks Subdivision.

According to authorities, the suspect identified as Barton Touchstone, 48, bumped a woman's car to get her to pull over. Authorities said he then asked to borrow her cell phone and stole it.

Touchstone fled in his truck, but immediately hit something in the road and flipped his vehicle. The truck then caught fire.

Witnesses pulled him from the truck, but authorities said he died from his injuries.
