West Nile virus detected at Fort Sam Houston
One human case confirmed, second suspected
SAN ANTONIO - One case of West Nile Virus has been detected in a person at Fort Sam Houston, Air Force Base officials said Wednesday.
Three out of seven mosquito pools recently collected at the honor guard horse stables were infected with West Nile. Since then, officials at the San Antonio Military Medical Center said one human case of West Nile was confirmed. A second case is suspected.
The horse stable was treated and additional surveys near the stables returned negative results.
