SA woman fights back against would-be attacker

Assaulted during middle of day on southwest side

SAN ANTONIO - An 18-year-old woman walking home on the Southwest Side said she was nearly abducted in the middle of the day Thursday.

The woman, who asked not to be identified for safety reasons, said a black Chevy Tahoe pulled off the road in front of her as she walked down Pitluk Avenue, just west of New Laredo Highway at about 11:30 a.m.

The woman said the driver of the truck got out, grabbed her from behind and tried to lift her into his truck. The woman, though, said she threw her arm back, hitting the man in the face, which caused him to let go. The woman then ran home and called police.

A spokesperson with the San Antonio Police Department confirmed a police report had been filed, and the incident is being investigated as an assault.
