Police: Woman charged with child endangerment in drunken tubing incident
Diana Rodriguez-Alonso, boyfriend charged
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - A mother was charged with endangerment of a child over the weekend in New Braunfels, after police said she got so drunk while floating on the Comal that she couldn't take care of her children who were floating with her.
Diana Rodriguez-Alonso, 28, was tubing on the river with her boyfriend, Reza Jamei, and her two children, ages 7 and 10.
People floating nearby noticed that the couple was so intoxicated that they could barely keep their own heads above water.
They notified police, who met Rodriguez-Alonso and Jamei as they exited the river with the two children in tow.
Police said the couple had trouble standing up straight, and clearly could not take care of the children.
Police arrested Rodriguez-Alonso for endangering a child and public intoxication, taking custody of her two children.
Jamei was charged only with public intoxication.
Relatives shopping in Round Rock drove down to take custody of the children.
