MacArthur High School teacher placed on administrative leave

North East ISD launches investigation into alleged inappropriate relationships

SAN ANTONIO - Just days before the new school year starts, a MacArthur High School teacher has been placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation into alleged inappropriate relationships.

According to Northeast Independent School District officials, a former electrical booster club president informed district officials about the allegations. She told them she had a four-year relationship with the teacher.

"(The teacher) says that there was never any relationship, but now that she claims the relationship has gone south, she's now making allegations that he may have been involved with students," Aubrey Chancellor, a spokesperson for the district, said.

The district said at this point, it's not clear exactly what the teacher is accused of doing with the students, who have since graduated.

"The only thing she's claiming, the words are 'inappropriate relationships.' What that all entails -- or if that entails anything -- will be determined," Chancellor said.

The district's human resources department and the Northeast ISD Police Department are conducting an investigation.

"The police are conducting a thorough investigation. They are interviewing students. They are interviewing this woman. They are interviewing the teacher, looking at former students," Chancellor said.

Since the teacher has not been charged with a crime, the district has not released his name.
