New student move-in begins at UTSA
Classes begin Wednesday
SAN ANTONIO - The city’s largest university will welcome about 3,500 students into their residence halls over the next several days, as classes set to begin on Wednesday.
Students at the University of Texas-San Antonio brought boxes, bags -- and tearful parents -- and they settled in to their new dorm rooms.
“It's a little hectic and a little sad, but I'm going to miss her,” said UTSA parent Allison Aiello. “ But it's an exciting thing for her, so we're all thrilled. As long as she settles in, we're fine.”
For parents, the day is bittersweet, as they said goodbye to their children, many of whom are moving away from home for the first time.
“It's sad,” said UTSA parent Asheet Yagnik. “But you know, she has to progress in life, so we have to let her go.”
Friday is also the beginning of “Roadrunner Days” in which students can participate in a variety of activities, including movie nights, at the main and downtown campuses.
