Cause of fire on Glaze Road under investigation, mobile home torched
SAN ANTONIO - Investigators are looking into a mobile home fire on Glaze Road that killed a man identified by neighbors as 64-year-old Dennis Kolker.
It happened just before 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Suzette Donally, who lives across the street, said Kolker, was a good man and that he was like a grandfather to her three children.
"He was a very nice man, very kind, very gentle," Donally said. "We always had each other's backs."
Donally and her children were at a friend's house when the fire broke out, but when she got back home and heard what happened to her neighbor, she said she was devastated.
"I got on my knees over there and I started crying," Donally said. "I was like, 'Please, you need to let me see him' and they (firefighters) said, 'We can't let you do that.'"
Darryl Donally, Suzette's son, said he and his family are are going to miss Kolker.
"It's pretty terrible because he was like a grandfather to me," said Donally. "So, I really miss him because he was real nice and kind to us, but now he's gone."
As of Sunday night, the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
"They (firefighters) told me it was a crime scene or something," said Donally. "They asked me if there was anybody that didn't like him. He didn't have any enemies."
