Night lights, gas dryers recalled for fire danger

Licorice, pacifiers recalled

From popular night lights to licorice, several potentially dangerous products have been recalled by manufacturers and the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

About 26,000 Energizer night lights sold at Target were recalled after nine reports of overheating. 

The recall involves Energizer LED night lights with model number NLPLROT and date codes between  January 2010 and January 2011. Target stores sold for about $6 nationwide. Consumers should unplug them and contact Energizer at www.energizer.com.

Gas dryers

There may be a danger in your laundry room if you have one of 21,000 recalled gas dryers. 

Various models and serial numbers of LG Electronics dryers and Kenmore Elite gas dryers have been recalled because the gas valve can fail to shut off, causing the dryer to continue to heat even after the drying cycle is complete. Some consumers and clothing have been burned or scorched.

Appliance stores and Sears sold the affected dryers in 2009 and 2010. Consumers should contact LG or Sears for a repair.  For more information on the serial numbers: www.cpsc.gov.

"Care Bear" pacifiers

Nearly 120,000 pacifiers with Care Bears on them have been recalled because they are choking danger. The nipple can separate from the base. 

The made-in-China pacifiers were sold at dollar and discount stores. For more information: www.pacifierrecall.net.

Red Vines Black Licorice Twists

American Licorice Co. issued a voluntary recall of of Red Vines Black Licorice Twists after tests showed elevated lead levels.

The company is investigating how the lead contamination occurred.

Health officials urge consumers to discard the licorice with a "best before" date of 020413.

The licorice was made in California, but distributed outside of the state.
