SAPD: Drunken driving suspect left children at home

Lisa Marie Martinez, 26, had been playing drinking games at friend's house

SAN ANTONIO - A 26-year-old woman arrested on a drunken driving charge early Tuesday morning left her two young children home alone at 4:30 a.m., police said.

Lisa Marie Martinez was arrested and booked on a DWI charge and child abandonment charges.

According to the police report, an officer on patrol saw Martinez run a red light at the intersection of Fredericksburg Road and Wurzbach Road.

When the officer pulled her car over after she turned on Hamilton Wolfe Road, he said he smelled alcohol on her breath and noticed her speech was slurred.

Martinez failed a field sobriety test and, as the officer was arresting her, she told him she had to go home to her children, police said.

A second officer dispatched to her home found her two children, a 9-year-old and a 4-year-old there alone.

According to police, Child Protective Services took the two children into protective custody.
