Skidding motorcycle strikes, kills elderly man on San Pedro Avenue

Elderly victim walking accross San Pedro when fatal accident happened

SAN ANTONIO - A collision with a motorcycle on San Pedro Avenue has left an elderly man dead.

The man died at University Hospital early Sunday morning from injuries he got in the cycle collision.

Police say the accident happened in the 500 block of San Pedro around 9:30 Saturday night.

They say the man tried to cross the street in a dark area. A motorcycle rider says he did not see the man until it was too late.

He told police he tried to avoid hitting the victim. He locked his brakes and laid the cycle down, but it skidded into the elderly man.

The victim sustained head injuries and died about four hours after the crash. His name has not yet been released.

Police say the cycle rider and his passenger weren't hurt, but they did ticket the cyclist for not having a motorcycle license.
