UTSA home opener brings out tailgaters
Some started cooking, partying before dawn at Alamodome
SAN ANTONIO - Tailgaters took to the parking lot of the Alamodome early Saturday morning for UTSA's first home game of the football season.
Some, like Frank Ruiz, showed up before the sun came up, but he said it's a small price to pay to support his Roadrunners.
"It's worth it. We enjoy coming out here and tailgating, enjoying the football games," Ruiz said.
While the wind was a bit of a nuisance, beyond that the weather was spectacular.
Along with plenty of food, many tailgaters had games galore.
San Antonio Police were making the rounds on bicycles, making sure everyone stayed in line and the San Antonio Fire Department had
folks on hand making sure, if you had a grill, you also had an extinguisher.
As the crowd grew throughout the morning, so did the enthusiasm, but many of the fans said while they're hoping for a win, they were just their for the fun.
"Win or lose, doesn't matter. We're out here to have fun and support the school," Brian Elliott said.
