Neighbor helps woman escape house fire on Westlawn Drive

SAFD: Fire appeared to start inside wall, damage minimal

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio fire officials said an alert neighbor helped a woman escaped a house fire in the 7100 block of Westlawn Drive early Monday morning.

Firefighters said the neighbor noticed flames coming from the back wall of the house after 5:30 a.m. and notified the woman who lives there.

That woman got out of the home safely, and when firefighters arrived, they were able to knock down the fire quickly. Fire officials said the damage to the home was minimal.

Firefighters believe an electrical problem caused the fire inside a wall of the home. They said they kept it from spreading beyond that area.
