Bomb threat prompts evacuation at Menger Hotel in downtown San Antonio

San Antonio police, bomb squad swept Menger Hotel, found nothing

SAN ANTONIO - A bomb threat at the Menger Hotel in downtown San Antonio forced the evacuation of several hotel guests and workers Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Javier Salazar with the San Antonio Police Department said someone called in the threat to the Menger Hotel around 6:15 a.m. saying something would blow up at a certain time.

San Antonio police officers and the bomb unit responded while the hotel manager evacuated some guests and workers.

The bomb unit used trained dogs to search the building, but nothing was found.

San Antonio police shut down streets nearby as well as the park near the Alamo during the search.

Guests and workers in the effected area were moved to another area indoors and some employees arriving for work were not allowed inside for more than an hour.

Sgt. Javier Salazar said police are not sure if the threat is connected to others in recent weeks.
