Joseph Almanza, 33, accused of beating woman, punching boy

San Antonio police: Joseph Almanza also arrested for assault in June

SAN ANTONIO - Joseph Almanza, 33, a man who San Antonio police said has a history of violence, is accused of punching a boy and assaulting his mother inside their home in the 1500 block of Jackson Keller Road earlier this month.

San Antonio police arrested Almanza this past Monday after receiving a call about a cutting. The arrest affidavit stated that San Antonio police officers arrived at the home on Jackson Keller and realized no one had been cut, but a 13-year-old boy told them he was punched.

San Antonio police said they found that the boy did have a red mark on his forehead. The boy told them Joseph Almanza came to his home and began fighting with his mother about a set of car keys, the affidavit stated.

At some point after that fight became physical, the boy said Almanza also punched him in the forehead, the affidavit stated.

San Antonio police said records show Joseph Almanza also was arrested in June for another assault involving the boy’s mother. He was booked into the Bexar County jail on charges of injury to a child and continuous violence, the affidavit stated.
