Man hides 8.26 pounds of alleged heroin under clothing

LAREDO, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than $800,000 in alleged heroin.

The seizure occurred on Sept. 14 at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge.

A CBP officer conducting examinations referred a 52-year-old male Honduran citizen from Marietta, Georgia who presented his resident alien card for a secondary examination.

CBP officers conducted a closer examination and discovered two packages hidden under his clothing containing a total of 8.26 pounds of alleged heroin. The heroin has an estimated street value of $826,000.

Officers turned the man over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.

“Our frontline CBP officers employed their inspection skills, technology, canines and their vigilance and perseverance paid off with a significant seizure of hard narcotics,” said Sidney Aki, CBP Port Director, Laredo.
