Theme, grand marshal named for Holiday River Parade

Local Olympian Jimmy Feigen named grand marshal


SAN ANTONIO - The Paseo del Rio Association on Monday announced the theme for the 2012 Ford Holiday River Parade that will be held on the River Walk on Friday, Nov. 23.


The theme is The Lights and Sounds of the Season. The association said it expects more than 80,000 lights on floats in this year's parade, including laser lights.

The Association also announced that Olympic swimmer Jimmy Feigan, a graduate of Churchill High School, will serve as Grand Marshal. Feigan won a silver medal in the Summer Olympics in London. He swam in the preliminary heats for the U.S. in the 4x100 meter freestyle relay. Feigan also swam for the University of Texas, where he won national championships in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and the 4x100-yard freestyle relay.

The parade begins at 7 p.m.
