Report: Wurzbach Parkway extension project on time
Project should be completed by end of 2013
SAN ANTONIO - The new Wurzbach Parkway extension that would create an alternative to Loop 410 and Loop 1604 between I-10 and I-35 is being completed on schedule, according to Texas Department of Transportation spokesman Josh Donat.
"We're running on time and on schedule. All the way from Blanco... to Wetmore," said Donat. "So we're looking good."
Not even weather -- barring an unusually wet pattern -- is expected to slow the project down.
"Most of our projects scheduled are built with the idea that we are going to encounter rain from time to time, " said Donat.
Speaking of weather, a side project associated with the Wurzbach Parkway extension involves building a bridge over a low-water crossing on West Avenue near the Parkway.
"(We) also improved the drainage structures around this area so that we can get water off the roadway and keep this road open, " said Donat
The West Avenue project should be completed by the end of October.
The section of Wiurzbach between Blanco Road and West Avenue should be completed by the end of the year.
The section between Jones Maltzberger and Wetmore should be completed by summer of 2013, and the section between Jones Maltzberger and West Avenue should be completed by the end of 2013.
