Boyfriend pops question at Scorpions game

'Match' made in heaven for sports-minded couple

SAN ANTONIO - A San Antonio man proposes to his girlfriend during a San Antonio Scorpions game.

Robert Dooley met his girlfriend, Erica Sanchez, five years ago at a high school football party.

The couple enjoys sports together, so Dooley said he thought a sports proposal would be the perfect way to ask her to be his wife.

"We've always loved sports," said Dooley. "Soccer, football, baseball. I figured this was the best way to do it."

Sanchez didn't suspect a thing.

"He's crazy," said Sanchez. "He's just naturally goofy that way."

The couple's mother, Trish Seguin and Emy Sanchez, knew of the plan, but they had to keep it quiet so they wouldn't spoil the surprise.

"It was hard for me to keep it from her because [she] and I share a lot," said Emy Sanchez, the mother of the bride-to-be.

"It's been a long time coming, and I'm just happy that she is going to be a part of our family," said Robert's mom, Trish Seguin.

The wedding is planned for November, but they'll always remember where their lives took a turn for the best.

"I guess there's no turning back now, right?" said Erica laughing.
