Candidate's wife douses Miami reporter with water

Senior Political Reporter Michael Putney reporting on FBI probe into congressman's relationship

CUTLER BAY, Fla. - A Miami senior political reporter was doused with water after he asked for comment about an FBI investigation into the relationship between a U.S. Congressman and another politician.

Local 10 Miami reporter Michael Putney knocked on the candidate's door and noticed a sign warning, “Trespassers leave -- or get wet.” He didn’t leave and got wet.

A woman, presumably the candidate's wife, opened the door, splashed a pitcher of water on Putney and then slammed the door shut.

Putney went to the home hoping to get some answers about an investigation into a Republican incumbent who is accused of secretly funneling money to a Democratic candidate in an attempt to plant a ringer candidate in the district's August primary election.
