San Antonio police: Man shocks woman with stun gun, steals her truck on South Side

Woman carjacked by 2 men in 100 block of Montrose, foot also run over

SAN ANTONIO - A woman tells San Antonio police a man shocked her with a stun gun, then carjacked her at her South Side home in the 100 block of Montrose early Thursday night.

San Antonio police responded to the incident around 11:45 p.m. Officers said a woman in her mid-60s was opening her gate to put her truck inside when she noticed a light-colored SUV pull up to the home.

"This guy is coming down here, and I even said, 'Hi,'" Maria Date said.

Date said she thought the men were her neighbors, but the next thing she knew, she felt a shock on her arm from a taser. She fought back.

"I swung, and I pushed him," she said. "He jumped in the truck, and I don't know what I was thinking. I got ahold of the mirror of the truck."

Date believes the men saw her leaving a store where she was making copies of pictures of her grandkids to take to a family reunion. She believes the men saw her get into her grey Ford F-150 truck, and followed her home.

"He's a coward, because I think what he saw was a woman getting in the truck at Walmart," she said.

The man drove over Date's foot with the tires of her truck, and she said the pain made something in her snap.

"I thought, 'Oh my God. I could get killed. He's going to run over me,'" she said.

As she watched her truck drive away, she was more upset about the contents of the truck than the truck itself: Her purse was full of memories.

"Pictures of my kids and all the discs, the CDs of my babies, which is really what gets to my heart," she said.

As of Thursday afternoon, San Antonio police had not located the truck or suspects.
