San Antonio police: Landlord accused of shooting at tenant over unpaid rent

Tenant claims to see landlord's truck speed away from home on Cypress Green after shots fired

SAN ANTONIO - A West Side woman claims a dispute over unpaid rent led to her landlord opening fire at her home on Cypress Creek early Monday morning.

San Antonio police responded to a call of shots fired around 3 a.m. A woman told officers she saw a small truck similar to her landlord's Ford Ranger speed away from her home after hearing shots.

She also told San Antonio police the two had a confrontation on Sunday over the rent, leading her to believe he was the one who opened fire.

Officers went to the landlord's home, which is located nearby, and said the engine in his truck was still warm.

San Antonio police said they found shell casings inside the landlord's truck as well, but he denied firing shots at the home.

San Antonio police took the landlord in for questioning. Police have not said if he would be charged in the shooting.
